Eddie Green is a Property and Evidence (P&E) Specialist with the Harris County Fire Marshal Office (HCFMO) where he oversees the daily operations of the Property & Evidence Warehouse. Some of his duties include, receive, scan, inventory, store, purge, destroy and document of property for auditing and safeguarding purposes.
Eddie first joined the Jacksonville Florida Sheriff’s Office in 2008 where he was a member of the Property & Evidence Association of Florida (PEAF). He left Florida in 2015 and headed to Texas.
In Jacksonville and now at HCFMO, Eddie has developed many processes and filling systems for P&E. He has assembled/set up a property room and separate supply room where he organized items by category (case number, year and type of evidence). He also has set up a separate Supply Room for Fire Investigators to obtain items after hours and a Processing Room for latent printing processing and examining of evidence.
Eddie has handled police and fire P&E that ranges from a single piece of paper, to an ATM machine to hundreds of pounds of narcotics to counting over a half million dollars in currency. As a Money Vault Officer, Eddie has handled accounts totaling over $3M at any one time where he maintained the check book.
He partners with the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, the Secret Service, Harris County District Attorney’s Office, the FBIs Regional Computer Forensics Lab, and the Harris County Crime Scene Unit where he prepares evidence for transport of bio-hazard items, fire debris, narcotics, weapons, counterfeit money, and other items to the laboratory for testing analysis.
Eddie is currently a Board Member of the Texas Association of Property & Evidence Inventory Technician (TAPEIT), a member of the International Association of Property & Evidence (I.A.P.E.), a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), and the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP).
Eddie’s hobby/passion lies with security, namely physical and personal security. He led the interviewing, hiring and training efforts for physical security for his 12th NFL Super Bowl which was played in Houston Texas.
Eddie’s other passion is watching sports, especially his KC Chiefs, KC Royals and the Kansas Jayhawks, and spending time and traveling with his beautiful wife Andrea.
